Color and Their Effects on People
Color, just like plants, can effect people, their emotions, and their responses. Color can be added to an interior not just in the paint on the walls. Plants are an excellent way of bringing color into the room whether it be the color of the foliage, the flowers, the pot it is in, or accessories with the plants.
Black
Black technically is not a color but a shade that can deepen the hue of a color. It is believed to make an item or a room look classier depending on the use. It defines the form of an object making it more desirable.
Blue
Blue has a calming effect on people and can even help with focusing. It is the most popular color in the world. If over used, blue can make people feel "blue" or low. A splash of blue in a room can make things pop.
Brown
Brown is a great neutralizer and a softer tone than black. When people think of brown in a room, they think of a very naturalistic feeling room. It can make an interior feel inviting and homey. Brown can also combine tastefully with other colors to make a beautiful combination.
Green
Green is another very natural color like brown and a calming color like blue. It can also be used to bring life and excitement. Green can enhance harmony in an interior. It does not necessarily have to come from the foliage of a plant.
Orange
Orange is such a happy color. It brings energy into the room. It brings movement into the room. Orange brings a special comfort. I always think of happiness and joy with the color orange.
Violet
Violet is royalty and quiet power. It is an excellent color for meditation. I feel like violet makes a place look classy like black but not quite as harsh. There are a lot of beautiful violet plants that would go great in any room. It can be dramatic like red or calming like blue.
Red
Red is passion. Red is fire. Red is power. It has the power to make things pop and as a complimentary color to green, it really brings out the green of the plants. Red is a friendly, lively color. If over used, it can be overpowering and aggressive. It can be used in a traditional or rustic theme.
White
White is purity. It is not a color though but a tint. It lightens the mood of other colors. White freshens up the room and bring a positive feeling. The only downfall is that it shows every spec of dirt.
Yellow
Yellow is sunshine and happiness. It vibrates and gives a sense of optimism. Yellow grabs attention. It causes an illusion of light in the room. If you live in a place that is dark and gloomy, a bright yellow plant will help. A word of caution though: too much yellow can cause anxiety.
